Dear Parishioners,

Happy New Year! May 2022 be a year filled with good health and Blessings for you and your family! On behalf of the Redemptorist Fathers and Brothers, we want to thank all of our beloved parishioners who have given us cookies, chocolates, wines, assorted nuts, homemade egg nog, etc. this holiday season. In the new year, parishioners are certain to see more of us… and I do mean MORE (lbs.) of us. It is so hard to watch what you eat when the holiday season is centered around food and family. Although, I must agree with the classic song, (food & family) “These are a few of my favorite things!”
This past year has been one of the routine ups and downs following the trend of the everchanging Covid-19 Virus. Many of us have known personally, as members of our parish, we have had to bury this year with an outpouring of faith, love, and a broken heart. The summer was delightful as we returned back to normal, had our vacations and a breath of fresh air.
However, the fall came with the return of masks in schools and indoor places of business. The City of Philadelphia, among so many others, has reported a record surge in shootings and homicides in a relatively short period of time. The country, if not the world, needs new life and a new beginning.
I am so pleased to have new life in the priestly ministry of Fr. Huan Le and the addition of our new German volunteer – Henning Schmid. They are God’s gift for the new year for us here at St. Peter’s. We will also celebrate new life and new beginnings as two of our young men take final vows this coming January. The profession will happen within the annual Neumann Feast celebrated on Wednesday, January 5th and a guest speaker will join us for the celebration for the parish on Sunday, January 9th (Baptism of the Lord).

Estimados Feligreses,

¡Feliz año nuevo! ¡Ojalá el año 2022 será un año lleno de buena salud y bendiciones para usted y su familia! De parte de los Padres y Hermanos Redentoristas, queremos agradecer a todos nuestros queridos feligreses que nos han regalado galletas, chocolates, vinos, nueces, ponche de huevo casero, y mas esta temporada de fiestas. En el nuevo año, los feligreses seguramente verán más de nosotros … y me refiero a MÁS (libras) de nosotros. Es muy difícil observar lo que uno come cuando la temporada navideña se centra en la comida y la familia. Aunque, debo estar de acuerdo con la canción clásica, (comida y familia) "¡Estas son algunas de mis cosas favoritas!"
El año pasado ha sido uno de los regular rutinarios que siguen la tendencia del virus Covid-19 en constante cambio. Muchos de nosotros hemos sabido personalmente, como miembros de nuestra parroquia, que hemos tenido que enterrar este año con un torrente de fe, amor y el corazón roto. El verano fue agradable cuando volvimos a la normalidad, tuvimos nuestras vacaciones y un soplo de aire fresco.
Sin embargo, la caída llegó con el regreso de las máscaras en las escuelas y lugares de negocios cerrados. La ciudad de Filadelfia, entre muchos otros, ha informado de un aumento récord de tiroteos y homicidios en un período de tiempo relativamente corto. El país, si no el mundo, necesita una nueva vida y un nuevo comienzo.
Estoy muy contento de tener una nueva vida en el ministerio sacerdotal del P. Huan Le y la incorporación de nuestro nuevo voluntario Alemán: Henning Schmid. Son un regalo de Dios para el año nuevo para nosotros aquí en St. Peter’s. También celebraremos una nueva vida y nuevos comienzos cuando dos de nuestros jóvenes tomen los votos perpetuos el próximo enero. La profesión ocurrirá dentro de la fiesta anual Neumann celebrada el miércoles 5 de enero y un orador invitado se unirá a nosotros para la celebración de la parroquia el domingo 9 de enero (Bautismo del Señor).
