Dear Parishioners:
Happy Easter! It is my heartfelt prayer that this day, when we celebrate our Salvation through our Most Holy Redeemer, may be a day of prayer and love shared by family and friends. I hope that you will have time to gather in your homes and share a meal together. As we have tried to become better people throughout this Lenten season, let us dedicate the pursuit of our faith to the struggle to live a gospel centered life, to live a Redeemed life of even greater holiness, personal integration and Christian integrity. By this, I mean living authentically, much like Dr. Linda Martinez-Lewi describes below:
“A person of integrity and insight leads his life with simplicity, seeing things as they really are, without distortion or delusion. He doesn’t need to continually prop himself up, to reflexively talk about his professional, intellectual, or financial accomplishments. He is grateful for these gifts… but unattached to them as the sum total of his worth and meaning. In his interactions with others, the person who embraces simplicity is straightforward. There are no hidden agendas, no psychological ploys, no manipulative behaviors. A person of character does not feign appreciation or friendship to extract what he wants from you. He has discarded the unfortunate habit of compulsive bragging. He is not interested in social class distinctions determined by heritage, financial worth, or formal education. He is unimpressed by fame, wealth, or power. For some people, the major focus is an external one: how they look, what they wear, the impression they are making, net worth, professional prestige, popularity. These things define their identity and personal worth/self-esteem.”
For those who live a more Christ-centered, Redeemed life… “transparency is the goal. To put it directly: what you see is what you get. These individuals are like the purest waters of a blue lagoon, where a swimmer views the white sandy bottom 30 feet down. They teach us to be less concerned with living by an image-driven… self-absorption or a rear -view mirror preoccupation with the opinions of others. They put no finger to the wind to gauge if they are liked, loved, accepted, or hated. They stand firm and unafraid.”

¡Feliz Pascua! Es mi oración más sincera que este día, cuando celebramos nuestra salvación a través de nuestro Santísimo Redentor, sea un día de oración y amor compartido con familias y amistades. Espero que tengan tiempo para reunirse en sus hogares y compartir una comida juntos. Al tratar de ser mejores personas durante este tiempo de Cuaresma, dediquemos la búsqueda de nuestra fe a la lucha por vivir una vida centrada en el Evangelio, a vivir una vida redimida de mayor santidad, integración personal e integridad Cristiana. Con esto, me refiero a vivir auténticamente, al igual que la Dra. Linda MartinezLewi describe a continuación:
“Una persona de integridad y visión conduce su vida con simplicidad, viendo las cosas como realmente son, sin distorsión o engaño. No necesita apoyarse continuamente, hablar reflexivamente sobre sus logros profesionales, intelectuales o financieros. Esta persona está agradecida por estos regalos… pero desapegada de ellos como la suma total de su valor y significado. En sus interacciones con los demás, la persona que adopta la simplicidad es directa. No hay agendas escondidas, ni trucos psicológicos, ni comportamientos manipuladores. Una persona de carácter no finge apreciación o amistad para extraer de ti lo que quiere. Él ha descartado la desafortunada costumbre de presumir compulsivamente. No le interesan las distinciones de clase social determinadas por el patrimonio, el valor financiero o la educación formal. Él no está impresionado por la fama, la riqueza o el poder. Para algunas personas, el enfoque principal es uno externo: cómo se ven, qué visten, la impresión que están haciendo, valor neto, prestigio profesional, popularidad. Estas cosas definen su identidad y valor personal/ autoestima.”

No ponen el dedo al viento para medir cuanto se les gusta, ama, acepta o se les odia. Se mantienen firmes y sin miedo.”
